Post-Doctoral Appointments

The UTD Computer Science Department and laboratory research grants provide for a limited number of Post-Doctoral appointments. Post-doctoral appointments are available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents only.

Talented computer scientists and software engineeerings who have recently received their Ph.D.'s in areas related to agent technology and multi-agent systems are encouraged to continue their research at our laboratory.

The MAVS laboratory is accepting applications for Post-Doctoral appointments on a limited basis.

GAANN Fellowships

The U.S. Department of Education provides Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Fellowships to full-time Ph.D. students planning careeers in university teaching and research.  The GAANN Fellowship is competitive and is available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents only.

GAANN Fellowships provide a monthly stipend, paid tuition and fees, paid books and travel to conferences for presentation of research papers. Once granted, the GAANN Fellowship  continues for a maximum of 3 years with satisfactory progress toward the Ph.D. degree.

The MAVS laboratory has 2 openings funded by GAANN Fellowships.

We are accepting applications from full-time Ph.D. students with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment with limited supervision. Our work is focused on the development of technologies for the construction and visualization of complex agent and large-scale multi-agent systems in a number of application areas.

Successful applicants will posess a solid understanding of software engineering processes, object-oriented analysis and design methods, and be proficient with the Java 1.5 programming language. Desirable additional skills include artificial intelligence (knowledge representation, planning, and decision making), graph drawing algorithms, formal logic, computer graphics and visualization, database design and implementation, and data mining.

Research Assistantships

The UTD Computer Science Department and laboratory research grants provide Research Assistantships for Ph.D. students interested in agent technology and multi-agent systems research. A limited number of Research Assistantships are avaialble each year to qualified U.S. and international students.

Research Assistantships provide a monthly stipend and paid tuition and fees for 20 hours per week of research work. They are available on an academic year and semester basis.
